The Judicial Munshikhana section of Malda District plays a pivotal role exercise the magisterial functions of the DistrictMagistrate in the district. These comprise monitoring prosecution cases through Public Prosecutor / Assistant Public Prosecutor, deployment of Magistrates for Law and Order duties, Sanction of Arms Prosecution, Issue of Gun License, , Enquiry of Police Firing Cases, Correspondence with Govt. for empowering WBCS Officers for Vesting of Executive Magistrate Power U/S 2(1), 133, 144 Cr.P.C, 19973, , engagement of Executive Magistrate for SDEM Court, Preparation of Roster of Executive Magistrate during various festivals, Processing and servicing of summons to Govt. employees, Matters relating to premature release and parole, preparation of bills relating to (a) Prisoner Diet charge (b) Medical bill for conducting Post Mortem Examination by M.Os (c) Carrying charges of UD cases for Doms, Preparation of bills P.P, West Bengal Cinema Regulation Act, 1954 and West Bengal Cinema (Regulation of Public Exhibition) Rules, 1956, , Correspondence with West Bengal Minority Commission, all matters relating to National Human Rights Commission (N.H.R.C), New Delhi in connection with various types of complaints, weekly reports on petitions of prisoners in custody claiming political status, Harassment / Grievances of the family of defence soldier, Issue of Licence /, relating to cases under Section 25 of Police Act. for release of seized unclaimed Motor Cycle / vehicles, Auction / Sale of seized unclaimed property, Acid Attack correspondence and payment of compensation, Registration of Indian Citizenship, Permission / Storage of Explosives, Cable Matters and Issue of Fire Crackers License.
